Aural Training matters for the music students

1. It helps with understanding and de-mystifying the music students learn.

2. Ear training fuels creativity.

3. When students learn to listen, they learn to think and feel the music in real-time.

At Violorn Music School the aural 'ear' training is a part of the instrumental tuition. However, it can also be delivered as a separate lesson to students who wish to develop deeper and better understanding of the music. Amongst others, the exercises involve:
-
melodic and harmonic intervals recognition
-
chord recognition
-
cadence recognition
-
rhythmic dictations
-
melodic dictations using stave notation
-
pulse and meter recognition
-
echoing using voice or instrument the melodies heard
-
singing the written melody
-
spotting the differences in heard music
-
recognising musical features and elements of music
